The MacKade brother who really loves women. The farm-boy. As Nora says, all the MacKades are stunners, but there’s just something about Shane. Just that extra slice of charm…

In the Fall of Shane Mackade, we focus on the beautiful Shane. He has thick, midnight black hair that he often wears in a stubby ponytail, a thin, bony, mouth-watering face (licking your lips yet?) with a lush mouth AND a dimple. His green eyes are the shade of an ocean at twilight. And that’s without even starting on his tall, rangy, muscled body. Good lord, how’s a woman to breathe?

Now, the thing is, the casting game is as much about the essence as it is about the actual looks and, although he hasn’t the right colouring, we think Taylor Kitsch is the best choice for Shane – very pretty, looks like he could pitch a bale of hay and handle a tractor. Just as importantly, looks like he could handle his woman.

Ah, the sheriff…… oh so patiently waiting for the woman he loves. And oh so gentle, in spite of those big hands, those big shoulders. But if you’re a bully or you beat on your wife, well, you better watch out because Sheriff MacKade will take you down. The Heart of Devin Mackade has belonged to the same woman since he was eighteen, and finally he gets the chance to show her.

Now, technically, David Conrad‘s hair is too short and he has blue eyes, not moss green ones…. But hell, we think he’s got the Devin look…..

Rafe MacKade

Possibly The Nora Bad Boy grown up, a man who is good with his hands, whether renovating old houses with flair and style or undoing blazer buttons on the woman of his choice. With his scruffy leather jacket and slightly too-long black hair, he introduces the MacKades in the first book of the quartet: The Return of Rafe MacKade

There’s a flicker of temper about Rafe, as well as sexiness in spades. Not a man to be diverted from what he wants… And our nomination for our favourite of Nora’s men is Patrick Dempsey. Look at the image that brought us to the decision – how can anyone resist?

Jared MacKade

For those who love the idea of a man who looks sharp in a suit and equally at home building a tree house for the kids, Jared MacKade is the bloke for you. In the second of the glorious Mackade brother books, The Pride of Jared Mackade he meets a woman who can handle him.

He’s hard, Jared – with a face of sculptured lines and the slight imperfection of a nose that has been broken twice. Under arching black brows, his eyes are cool and green. But there’s a smouldering quality to this man and the one dimple beside his mouth gives a clue to the wit and fire within. There aren’t many women who could resist that commanding presence, especially when it’s accompanied by broad shoulders, narrow hips and a tough rangy build.

Got any ideas about who could play Jared? We’re undecided, so give us a suggestion……

Cameron Quinn

Cam’s one of the Nora men we absolutely have to get right. With his need for speed and womanising past, he’s a bad boy who comes home when his brothers need him. We meet all the Quinns in Rising Tides, the first in the Chesapeake Bay quartet

Tough, muscled body. Hard, working man’s hands. Thick hair, as dark as night, untidy and long enough to fall over his collar. An intriguing face, not pretty, with some Native American blood perhaps to account for the sharp bones and bronzed skin. Grey eyes, the colour of bitter storms.

Surely, this is the description of the man of our dreams – or some of the better ones, at least.

And there was a little parting of the ways with the casting of Cameron. Roarkelover being very fond of Keanu Reeves and it has to be said that his angular cheekbones and colouring are right for the part. But there’s something about his lack of animation that left Mackadelover a bit cold, until we found this image.

Tall and tortured, Ethan is the only one of the Quinn brothers who never left Chesapeake Bay. The hero of Rising Tides, with his sun-bleached brown hair and quiet blue eyes, Ethan lived quietly on his own until the death of Ray, the Quinn’s beloved father, fishing the bay with his dog. He has loved his woman from afar since she was a teenager, but doesn’t believe he has enough to offer her.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has the same sober, thoughtful quality as Ethan and we imagine that his hands are just as calloused and capable.
